Activate response above 38°C ambient with humidity >30%. Prioritise mist-spraying at colony perimeter over direct handling. Do not handle heat-stressed adults without vaccination and PPE.
Do not
- Never handle adult flying-foxes without current ABLV vaccination and appropriate PPE.
Trigger: BOM forecast ≥38°C with RH ≥30%, or observed panting/clumping at ground level.
Mist-spray perimeter trees. Handling only by ABLV-vaccinated personnel.
Ground-fallen juveniles: cool with damp cloth, offer electrolyte, transfer to licensed carer.
