Chelation therapy for lead-toxic raptors

Current position
CaEDTA at 35 mg/kg IM twice daily for 5 days, followed by 5 days off, then re-test blood lead. Concurrent supportive care and GI decontamination as indicated.
Confirm exposure with blood lead >20 µg/dL and radiographic evidence of metallic fragments.
CaEDTA 35 mg/kg IM q12h × 5 days. Provide IV/SC fluid support throughout.
GI decontamination via crop lavage or surgical removal for radiographically visible fragments.
